Caught in the Storm

Welcome to my newest blogging endeavour! If you couldn’t tell from the title of the blogging, I have been caught up in the storm known as Arashi (harhar… Bad pun, I know).

For those of you who read my main blog, fields of maiZe in the morning, you know that I’m a huge Hello! Project fan. I’ve been following Hello! Project for 8 and a half years, and listening random Joop here and there for even longer. And yet somehow, through all of that, I never sat down and gave Arashi (or any Johnny’s group, really) a listen.

Well, near the end of last year, after a bit of procrastination, I finally got around to watching the J-drama The Quiz Show 2. My reason for watching The Quiz Show 2: Matsuura Aya, of course. However, as I got further into the episodes, I found myself liking Sakurai Sho more and more. The Kanjani guy kind of creeped me out through the entire thing.

After watching The Quiz Show 2, I didn’t immediately looking up anything and everything to do with Arashi. I kept on with my H!P fandom as per usual… That was until my evil friend MorningBerryz (kidding… I <3 you MB!) posted about the 2009 Kohaku… and in the midst of the few segments she shared on her blog, there was Arashi. Since I now knew who one of the members was, I thought I’d give it a watch, and was that ever a mistake!

Since then ( it’s been a little over a week now) it’s been all Arashi, all the time for me. I mean, I started a new blog for them, didn’t I?

So this blog will chronicle my thoughts as I develop my Arashi fandom. Maybe more Johnny’s acts will come into the mix eventually, but for the moment I’m already pretty overwhelmed by the 10 year history that Arashi has that I know next to nothing about.

I have their 1999-2009 single collection which I’ve already listened to about 4 times, and I’m in the process of watching their PV collection and Arashi Around Asia 2008 concert DVD. Once I get through those, I figure I’ll have a lot to blog about.

Hope you guys enjoy following along as I embark on this new journey!

All I know about Arashi is their album with Love so sweet on it. The rest of the album was pretty good, minus a couple tracks.

I really understand what you mean about the quiz show 2, once you start liking one drama, with one Arashi member it’s a slippery slop until you’ve suddenly got a 500gb external harddrive filled with almost everything they’ve ever done (it was Hanadan for me, damn you Domyouji!!!)

I’ll definately be following your new blog ^^

p.s. “The Kanjani guy kind of creeped me out through the entire thing” Yeah, I actually really like Kanjani 8 but yeah Yoko really did freak me out in some scenes, especially in the final episode where I think he drools when crying, but it was still a great drama. Did you see the episode yet of Arashi no Shukudai-kun where Matsuura Aya was the guest? She was so cute when they made her smell everyone ^^

@Rocky: You are everywhere, Rocky! XD <3 I haven’t listened to normal albums yet, only the single compliation… I have sooo much to catch up on. XD

@miquilis: LOL. Well, I haven’t quite gotten to 500 gb downloaded yet. XD Though I don’t doubt that I will eventually. As I started looking into them, I took a quick check at how full my hard drives are, and I will need to start burning some of my Hello! Project stuff to make room for Arashi… Of course, there’s always new H!P stuff to download to….. -_-; I may need a new HD again (I just got one a few months ago. XD)

Arashi no Sukudai-kun, huh? .. Is that a variety show? I’ll have to look that up… Anything to do with Aya is always something that will pique my interest! ^_^ Thanks for the suggestion.

@MB: You better believe it was Shobait for me. ^_^ I’m glad you like the layout. When I was wandering themes for this blog, I stumbled upon this one and was like… LIGHTNING BOLTS? It looks stormy!! This would be PERFECT! :D (Seeing as I knew what I was naming the blog already.)

yeah Arashi no Shukudai-kun is one of their variety tv shows, Aya was on Shukudai-kun epsiode 133 of you wanna watch it. They’ve had a variety show with NTV in the same late night time slot since 2001 and it’s gone through a number of different formats and name changes, but at the moment it’s a talk show – if you ever start getting into their variety shows I’d suggest starting with D no Arashi and G no Arashi as they had some of the most classic crack filled moments… those shows were made during a period when they weren’t that popular so it really seemed like they were allowed get away with anything ( ^ω^ ) at one point they set up an air guitar band for no other reason then to just jump around like idiots to queen songs.

and if you do get into the variety shows you really will need another hd because that’s what ended up taking up all my space >_<
